Mercy Everywhere – A Kyrie for the Gulf Coast

Back in 2016 we had an opportunity to write some liturgical songs for congregations in New Orleans. Mercy Everywhere is a Kyrie written with the seasonal flooding experienced by many along the gulf coast, especially poorer communities which are often in the lowlands,  in mind. With the landfall of Hurricane Laura this morning join us in a moment of prayer for all those who are suffering. Christ, have mercy.

Yesterday’s Chapel Music

We get to assist in leading chapel music a couple times a week at the United Lutheran Seminary Philadelphia campus. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun. Yesterday we had an impromptu jam in the pre-service that very few folks heard. I was able to capture the last two minutes and listening to it brings a smile… we are richly blessed. Music in the streets of Bamberg

June 15, 2017 – I rose early this morning to write and walk the streets and was rewarded in so many ways. There is some sort of festival happening in Bamberg today; we can’t figure out exactly what it is and the lady at the front desk only knew that it’s a catholic church festival. The really interesting thing is that they are piping the service from the cathedral on the hill throughout the old town area with an elaborate speaker system, so the streets are filled with chants in latin and hymns in german. Here’s a video clip from the flower box outside our hotel room to give you a sense of what this sounds like… it’s pretty cool!
